WHAT ON EARTH IS SHE DOING NOW ?
HEY....... look at me! This is the 3rd update I've done & almost don't have to read the "how to" notes supplied by my lovely website builders. Still sorting out how to change the images part of this website, but will work it out before I die I'm sure.
Thank you, by the way, to all of you who have taken the time & effort to "check me out" so to speak.
Late last year I had the wonderful opportunity to have a "quickie show" at the fabulous new Peninsula Grange Retirement Community Centre on Racecourse Rd, Mornington. You all need to get on down there to see this gorgeous place.
How lucky can an artist be??? Well, this artist sold 6 pieces & the people at the Grange paid for everything. Can't thank them enough for giving me this forum to showcase my work. AND..... you will see a constant display of my bigger works gracing their monster wall in the foyer of said building!
I am concentrating on doing more work and looking for the right shows etc to "get it out there"; no easy task as you know. I'm still trying to hold off from the formal gallery route, but am wondering just how long is long enough! (think I'll leave this in for now). Happy to share that I've been selling from my home gallery with folk calling in & ringing out of the blue looking for a particular piece they saw somewhere, sometime.
Regular group classes have started & are on Wed 9:30am - 12 noon & Frid 10am - 3:30pm. Please call or email if you'd like more info.
There are workshops planned for this year, but no demonstrations at other Art Societies at this stage. HELLO..... I'M HERE WAITING FOR AN INVITATION.
My gig at U3A is going well. Some students have dropped off so I never know who'll show up. Makes it exciting for me. I'm told too that with the colder weather descending upon us, there will be even fewer folk coming to class. I'll still be there however, doing my thing & helping out. It's on every 1st & 3rd Monday from 9:30-12noon.
You can still find me helping out at Oak Hill Gallery in Tyabb Rd, Mornington, generally on weekends. Come on in & have a chat, maybe a cuppa & enjoy the gentle ambience of this wonderful old building, with lots of artwork on the walls.
Keep checking the Oak Hill website to see what shows are coming up. BIG news is that the Archibald Portrait Prize will be showing at the Mornington Peninsula Regional Gallery which backs onto Oak Hill. Because of this brilliant coup the "Little Archies" will be exhibiting at Oak Hill in June/July to coincide with the tens of thousands who will be visiting!!!!! SO my friends, start painting your portraits & get an entry form from Oak Hill to be part of an historical show.
Personally, I'm going to hit the Show circuit solidly this year, venturing much further afield & many more than my usual 7 or 8.
With the new addition of Gallery 247 it will make it easier to enter works into some of the bigger events like Camberwell, Brighton & Knox. Do yourselves a favour & peak into this system. Your works are Nationally recorded, catalogued & barcoded for show references as well as on view to the world.
Canterbury Primary, St.Kevin's College, Art Red Hill, Flinders Rotary, Mt.Waverley, Mt. View, Parade College, San Remo, Alexandra, Bright, Bairnsdale, Deniliquin, Bendigo, Little Archies and Blairgaowrie are some of the shows that I will be entering & hopefully accepted into.
